Fartlek - A Swedish word for speed play, this is a continuous run of a certain time or distance in which the runner is continually changing speed for certain amounts of time
Warrior Run - This is a group run of equal ability runners who maintain a pace while running in a single file line. The lead runner will yell "go" after a certain period of time and the runner in the back will sprint up ahead to become the leader. The goal is for the group of runners to stay together with no one falling behind.
Easy Run (E)- This is a type of run over a certain distance or period of time in which all runners involved should be able to have a conversation without feeling out of breath. These runs build overall endurance and fitness and are the foundation of higher level training sessions.
Threshold pace (T) - This is a pace that is comfortable hard which means you are working relatively hard but at a pace that you can maintain for at least 10 minutes. You will look forward to these runs ending.
Interval training (I) - This is "fast" running with intermittent rest breaks build in.
Stride (S) - A 20 second run in which the runner is slowly accelerating and is at full speed by the end of the time. Strides are used to focus on running form while increasing your anaerobic fitness.
